On the inaction of major countries, it seems likely that not only is the U.S. itself going to have to make a major about-face, but that it is going to have to use its position as the world's largest economy to get other countries to limit their emissions. It could do this by tariffing products from uncapped countries at greater than the cost advantage they achieve by being uncapped. This may require the U.S. to withdraw from the WTO. What's more, this may have to occur within a short period of time (say by 2010). It is a tall order. Let's hope we elect leaders up to it in 2008.

Agree with 2008. We will be doing a US version of our Australian political climate website www.voteclimate.org.au. by the end of September.

We also have a recording of James Hansen talking about the above issue at out conference we just ran along with slides.

I agree that 2008 is important, but to thwart all of you socialist/marxist losers! If even a small part of your economic plans are implemented it will create a world wide depression worse than the 30's.

I suspect that we will be able to properly demonize all of you throughout 2007/2008 and tar the Clinton/Obama ticket with your leftist plans.

This will allow the Guillani/Gingrich ticket to win in 2008 or at least allow a 50-60 seat pickup in the House in 2010 and another 10-12 seats in the Senate.

So we should focus on ALL greenhouse gases? Does this include water vapor which comprises approximately 97% of the greenhouse gases? The same water vapor that forms clouds which the IPCC admits it does not understand well at all; yet, capriciously disregards? (It seems that clouds are difficult for climate models.) Oh, yes, and this is the same water vapor, i.e. clouds, which recent research by Roy Spencer appears to play a much larger role than previously thought. Imagine that.
