10, 20, 50 years from now, they will all get it. Too bad it will be too late.

A philosophical Stockholm syndrome: even the cultural elite look up to and admire those with power and wealth. And they adopt the thinking and world view of those who hold that Western attitude. And they think along with and support their non-violent captors.

Humans have learned by trial an error. In a fast growing population that is a perfectly reasonable way to learn, since the lessons that lead to death are noted and a ready human replacement is nearby, observing and learning and stepping up to take over and face the next lesson.

Now our species is trapped by its own failure to observe and learn, and will be severely punished by a consequence that unfolds too slowly for most humans to learn.

Pity.

It's beyond disappointing.

It calls into question at *what level* they do get the problem. Reducing emissions and cutting energy use are smart strategies for many different reasons. Introducing such measures can be good politics, too.

These kinds of grand summary statements that omit mention of the climate crisis amount to serious Freudian slips. In attempted grandeur veritas. Or something.
