Bill, our government leaders have been underperforming for so long that we have to be idealistic to make up for it. We've got a lot of catching up to do on a lot of fronts, and the wind is not in our favor.

I agree that there's the potential to release and direct a lot of energy is Obama is elected. I think the term "change of consciousness" works here to describe what's needed. A good uniter will calm some of the tension that's grown between factions in the US. That might help people to relax enough to allow themselves to change their viewpoints.

Meanwhile, world event continue to rearrange the game board and offer more distractions. Still another year to go before the Chief is changed.

Good post Bill, interesting on Romm's blog as he was in the gov't under Clinton

On the issue of trust, I'd like to share some thoughts from the past few weeks. Beyond what we can say historically about both candidates, especially Hillary, I think their behavior over the last few weeks is telling.

The Clinton campaign has been engaging in dirty tricks. Fairy tale is the next swift boat; just plant the seed of doubt, that's all you need to win a debate regardless of fact. (That's a tactic ExxonMobil is great at.) Law suits to keep working-class latinos from the caucus, which even if not directly involved with the Clinton campaign, insinuate ties which the Clinton's did nothing to assuage. Completely unfortunate, intentional or not, references to MLK needing a white president for "change" - you tell me who injected race into the campaign.

These past few weeks show a disturbing pattern - which gives me little hope that I'll have capital T Trust in a Hillary Clinton administration. This emerging pattern is making realize something: I'd rather have capital H Hope.

Personally, I think it is time that No Confidence was a choice on the ballot.

That’s quite a list. It’s those people who are the farthest off the best path who need the strongest leaders. Bill Clinton in a speech said that the things that are right about America can solve the problems that are wrong with America.
Someone who has all those qualities is someone who we need for the job. No wonder those ancient Romans called their Caesars gods, because that’s getting quite close to what you described.

jcwinnie, why don't you start a No Confidence Party. You can promise to dismantle the country if elected, as it would show that the plurality of citizens had no confidence in the country.

This administration has bred a hopelessness mentality, an apoaclypse mentality, a fear mentality, and every other mentality that stinks. I can't wait to clear my head.

What I find amazing is that no one seems to recognize the potential of Ron Paul for President in 2008. I did some in depth study of his politics and policies before he ever announced for the presidency. I knew then he needed to run for president. The media has continually made every attempt to exclude Ron Paul from news casts, debates, and general campaign coverage. You have to ask yourself why are they doing this? Could it be the news agencies are owned by corporate America? Could it be they don't want you to hear about this man, who does not except donations from special interest groups and corporate bullies? Could it be they don't want a man whose voting record consistently supports only bills that are constitutional? Why do you think he has earned the nick name Dr. NO in the House of Representatives? Wake up America before it is too late!
