Great news for the environment. I hope they have realistic ideas about what would be conservative assumptions for emissions credits. Some of the recent science coming from people like Hansen imply the need for near total decarbonization by mid century. A conservative assumption for free credits in my opinion would be ZERO. Hopefully that drastic of a cut won't turn out to be necessary, but seems silly to sink lots of money into projects assuming that it won't be.

If only China would get on board. It's staggering how fast they are deploying new coal facilities.

The banks didn't do it because they are green, or the slightest bit interested in the welfare of humanity. They did it because citizens are getting ready to vote in a bunch of Democrats who will pass laws that endanger profit for the shareholders of the banks.

The banks are also looking for ways to avoid loaning money to risky ventures, in fear that the banks themselves will be seeing heavier (deserved) regulation.

Corporations have no morality but profit. They're not evil, they're corporations legally built to extract maximum profit. It's all they can know.

That's why they shouldn't be allowed to elect legislators or Presidents. They're not responsible for their actions to humanity.
