I think one of the main problems with Congress in general right now is that the Democrats are going out of their way to play by the rules. This is something that never happened while the Republicans controlled both houses two years ago. Two years ago, Democrats had to hold hearings in old basements just to have their say, literally forced out at every opportunity. Now, the Democrats are taking the high road--admirable, but with its own obvious problems--and anytime a solitary Democrat suggests taking the "Republican Route," the Republicans seem to cry foul. It's going to be really tough to get anything done without a Democratic president.

I love how even in a piece like this, they're already misrepresenting what Bush said. He did not deliver a goal to freeze U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2025, but rather a goal to freeze the growth of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.

This is the same stunt being used in my native Alberta, Canada, by the way. They frequently speak of greenhouse gas intensity, but they always position it in part of a speech where they rapidly shift the subject (i.e. the end of a transitional sentence in a paragraph), so the mind doesn't have time to process that they're calling for increased overall emissions.
