Why didn't Reid require a traditional fillibuster on this bill? According to Wikipedia, "the Senate Majority Leader may require an actual traditional filibuster if he or she so chooses". And what is so pressing on the agenda that they tabled the bill? There was a piece on the Heritage Blog entitled "Lets Keep this Debate Going" that claims "the left is getting absolutely destroyed in the debate". (http://blog.heritage.org/2008/06/04/lets-keep-this-debate-going/) Quitting now plays into these critiques.
