Greg, we won't find many deniers when it comes to energy security. In case anybody needed fresh proof, Iran provided a reminder this week by test-firing some of its missiles next to the Strait of Hormuz -- a strip of Persian Gulf water through which much of the world's oil flows. We've known for years that the Strait, bordered by Iran, is the jugular of the global economy.

I'm told that some of the folks who introduce climate-related legislation in Congress avoid the word "climate" and use "energy security" or "energy independence". There's a much better chance of support, apparently.

Thanks for writing.

Thanks Bill, both Parts 1 & 2 have left me thinking, which is what I want from a blog!

Have also just read a piece in Slate on neocons who are pushing hard for energy security:

"...Many of the leading neoconservatives who pushed hard for the Iraq war are going green. James Woolsey, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and staunch backer of the Iraq war, now drives a 58-miles-per-gallon Toyota Prius..."
