The Gang of 10 backers are already making a hard sales push. Just last week, in a bid to gain support from Alaska’s senators, the sponsors added revenue-sharing for Alaska. The Alaska lawmakers are in talks with the sponsors of the Gang of 10 plan, Senate aides said.

Just got an e-mail claiming that this energy bill also guarantees unlimited, unquestioned loan guarantees for the nuclear power industry. Surely thjat can't be true, right?

I truly hope that the democrats will do what's best for the country. Personally, I'd like to see the "improvements" money spent on existing leases (off and on-shore) to just go straight to the federal coffers and support renewable energy programs. Played right, the republicans can only lose with this one. If they hold up any bills, or if they do away with offshore bans, then we can easily and correctly state that they are responsible for adding a greater amount of uncertainty to the market, resulting in the widely fluctuating prices at the pump. They aren't doing anything to solve the problem, and, if anything, are making it harder on the average family.
