I think the Clintons maybe looking ahead toward a possible defeat of Obama, so that Hillary can run again in 2012. Bill Clinton has gotten more press lately than either candidate. He is always praising McCain or boosting Hillary. He is an embarassment to the Democratic Party. First because of his affair with "that woman"(women) and next because they are such poor losers. Because of what I use to think of the Clintons, I find it very disheartening to see the position they have retreated to. They seem to have loss any commitment to the Democratic party except superficially

Is this Bill Clinton's revenge against Barack Obama for defeating his wife in the primary? Please tell me Obama has also been invited, and that McCain is just being given equal time.

” . . . Maybe McCain can lead the international group of participants at the Clinton Global Initiative in a chant of “Drill, baby, drill!” . . .”

And then continue with “burn, baby, burn.”

It sounds silly, but the whole point of drilling is burning. That is what we do with oil. We burn it. One cubic mile of oil every year.

Unfortunately, there's nothing silly about it, Mark. Burn Baby Burn, with all it threatens of violence and the scabrous core nihilism which is all the republicans really represent any more, is all I heard them saying, and all I've since quoted them as saying.

Joe, since you pointed out how effective a spokesman Fiorina is, did you see this (from today's NYT editors' blog):

Hey, How Hard Is It to Be President?
By The Editorial Board

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina — a major player in the McCain-Palin campaign — was asked on a KTRS Radio program in St. Louis whether Sarah Palin had the experience to run a major company like H.P.

Her answer: “No, I don’t. But you know what? That’s not what she’s running for.”

Of course, the McCain campaign insists that Governor Palin would be ready to step in as president should anything happen to him.

Running a company, it seems, is hard.

Leading a nation of 300 million people, with a budget of around $3 trillion, a couple of major wars going on, and the capacity to blow up the planet. Well, that’s doable.

She said elsewhere that Mccain wouldn't be able to run a big company either. (She should know - she also was incompetent at it.)

That said, it will be interesting to hear the senator's remarks, and the reactions.
