I couldn't even stand to look at his face on T.V., I was so repulsed--How can anyone be so ignorant, unethical, incompassionate and unscrupulous is beyond me. And yet he had this little innocent, cross-eyed look like he was so innocent... Guess that's how he was able to trick everyone!

I hope someone is considering the extremely long term, like figuring out universally understandable pictograms to etch in brass that shows what happened to us. On the other hand, I don’t know if brass will last long enough for a creature with the equivalent of our intelligence to re-emerge after millions of years. I guess diamonds would be practically forever, but you have to draw very tiny. Unless we’re talking the Hope diamond, but that ain’t gonna happen.

George bush is the worst, he was a political puppet. i think cheney was the mastermind behind the scheme, but worst of all, the idiots in the republican party are blaming the democrats and the democartic dumbbutts dont do anything about it! the United States system is failing, and we need to revolt against it and reestablish a new, uncorrupt system.

Agreed.

When 55% of population wanted Bush impeached and congress did nothing - I blame them too. Heads in the sand. Then and still.

Yes, wind and PV are complementary. Works out nice, keeping down costs and the need for overcapacity. And even if the costs were higher than other choices, so what? Do people shopping for a jaguar (the car, not the cat) not buy it because used pintos are cheaper? (again, the car) A jaguar is a different product from a pinto even if it does the same basic thing—move people from one place to another. Wind and PV are different products than oil and coal, even if they do both cause electricity to move through wires, because solar, wind and conservation do it without killing people through black lung, cancer, oil wars and that pesky other thing--the collapse of civilization. They would be better products at 10 times the cost of the others—luxury vehicles over ugly, sputtering heaps whose gas tanks explode.

And BTW, when you say half the people elected our fearless leader you must mean less than half the people voting, an alleged 50.5 million, which is what--18% of the population? And don't forget he didn't actually win either election, just eliminated enough of the other side's potential voters to make it seem like over half. With the help of the Supreme Court, of course, and the Jedi mind trick that put the Democrats in a trance for 8 years in the face of obvious and blatant cheating, illegality, war crimes, and monumental criminally insane stupidity in blocking action on saving civilization. And oh, yeah, cheating.

Doesn't seem like it would take great genius to look at all the holes we've made in our Earth extracting sequestered carbon which we've burned to create what would have wiped us out.

Not that I think we'll wipe ourselves out. That's the sort of paranoid doomsday stuff that's best left to wild-haired guys parading around wearing sign boards.

What we're more likely to do is to make things very, very miserable for ourselves and increase the rates of unnecessary deaths. Millions and millions of people dying long before their "three score and ten" simply because some of us are too stupid and greedy to make some basic changes. Call it the Great Bush/Inhofe Die Off, a time of mass starvation.

A basic breeding stock is very likely to survive.

But that's a very worst case, and I rarely predict the very worst case. I think the outcome will be somewhat nasty, but far from as bad as it could be....

Here is a literature review of some means to save the planet:

http://web.abo.fi/~rzevenho/MineralCarbonationLiteratureReview05-07.pdf

with one technique (of limited applicability) with a cost of only $3--4 per tonne of CO2 removed.
