Single digit IQ (stupid) politicians elected by single digit IQ (stupid) voters - from both parties - are the most serious single problem.

This type which in my humble opinion makes up something like 80% of the congress & senate means that too little can happen.

Term limits for all congressmen & senators plus limits on campaign spending should lead to a new type of representative - hopefully of a better quality.

Not all the fools are republicans though they do manage to stick out.

One thing I like about Obama is that he is a little bit of the philosopher - completely missing from the pols mentioned above. They have a bumper sticker level discussion of the issues, and a very low ethical threshold. Such easily swayed constituents must share some blame.

Michael:

I appreciate your comment, and this blog is definitely a balancing act to satisfy diversity of readers that I get.

I do have a lot of readers who are interested in the politics of domestic US climate action and how progressives should respond to standard conservative talking points.

One such core talking point is that climate action that will hurt the poor. I think one post explaining the hypocrisy of that talking point is useful.

I also think it is quite hard to describe this as a post on the minimum wage, etc. But the opening line/caption was a tad misleading so I fixed it. Thanks.

I like this blog for its analytical approach to everything related to climate policy. However, a post on minimum wages etc is quite political and probably detracts from the general mission of the blog.
