Comments on: Memo to Washington Post: Editorial page editor Fred Hiatt just recycled a right-wing WSJ op-ed. If you won’t fire him, could you move him over to obits where he can’t hurt anyone?

Interesting we both blasted the same op-ed, albeit your blasting was more thorough, although I like my picture. Thanks for the context provided about where the $1600 cost came from. I thought it was just not accounting for an free allowances or rebates back to consumers, not that it was an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BILL.

We should keep in mind that future scholars/angry mobs will be looking back at such records of idiocy - Assigning blame is much easier when there is a printed record in such an important publication. I hope they wake up.

Even he who carves the tombstone takes great care to get the facts right.

Joe --- Over at the obits he'll offend the sensitivities of the survivors.

Much better to offend yours.

[JR: I'm not worried about my sensibilities. I'm worried about future generations, in the event the Washington elite actually listen to the crap Hiatt publishes.]

At some point the true per household cost of Waxman - Markey will be determined. The $1,600 figure estimated by Feldstein, a member of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board, is close to the CBO estimate.

[JR: The net welfare cost is small. With all the provisions in this bill to protect consumers, push efficiency, and keep costs low, the cost per family is much, much lower.]
