I think this is a great news that the price of solar panel is decreasing. This will enable many to buy this one.

With regard to 3 (and making a wild guess) farm equipment, construction equipment, airplanes? Efficiency and load-shifting (more trains, less planes, e.g.) can reduce the need, but there will still probably be uses for heavy equipment that is too big for electric or hybrid.

Speaking of biofuels - i read an article recently (on evworld, i think) that stated that it is much more efficient to grow a crop, burn it in a cofiring electric/heat plant and use the resulting electricity to power an electric car that try to make ethanol out of the biomass for an ICE. So why are we still trying to make biofuels at all?

Direct Climate Action is starting to swing in to gear. I can see us making it unless this happens. Wonder down and join one.

Climate Action Camps

Politicians talk a lot about global warming, but what are they doing about it? To put pressure on our governments to address climate change, let's get active – NOW!

PV at the consumer level.

I pay attention to PV prices as I'm off the grid, getting >90% of my electricity directly from the sun.

A few years back the best retail prices for PV were just under $4 per watt. During the silicon shortage/high demand period prices rose to $5. Now I'm seeing ads for $3. That "40%" is real.

BTW, when I set up my first PV system in the early 1990s the going retail price for solar was $12 per watt (2009 dollars). $12 -> $3 is a massive decrease.
