Politicians who are proved wrong rarely get punished for it. It's more dangerous to be out front. In the middle stages of Vietnam, for example, the Senators who took a courageous stand against the war were mostly defeated in the next election. All it took was a little flag waving and accusations of aid and comfort etc.

By 2012 it's likely to be difficult for Republican oil employees to deny climate change, and even now their hearts don't seem to be in it. Don't worry- they'll mix up their language and not skip a beat, and the public's memory is too short to hold them accountable.

In the meantime, it's quite a spectacle, and a national embarrassment, really. Aren't we supposed to be the global leaders in science?

It seems the republicans are constantly putting the brakes on any agenda that trys to solve the climate change problem! They can't all have stock in oil companies, can they? Why are they doing this?!
