Joe--

It seems like you have an opportunity to improve upon the vast wasteland that is the WashPost editorial page. An actual Nobel-winning scientist, Burton Richter, is one of ten finalists in the "America's Next Great Pundit" contest. His first sample article is about reinstating the Office of Technology Assessment:

http://views.washingtonpost.com/pundits/contestants/burton.richter/2009/10/getting_partisanship_out_of_technology.html

Let's make him the winner. Vote early and often from November 7 to 9.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the Post article. Prospects seem definitely better and more people are getting together to figure out how to make climate legislation work.

Newspapers suffered another sharp decline in circulation in the last survey period
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/26/AR2009102603272.html

Allow me to declare the tipping point and issue the death certificate for the print newspaper industry.

They're already toast, and the only real question is how long they will linger on and continue to do more global warming harm? And I'm not just talking about their destruction of trees and the CO2 all their trucks and delivery vehicle spew, but also the inept and incompetent reporting performance by the editors and publishers of the Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal and any other bird cage liner you care to name.

Web sites like Climate Progress, Climate Ark, RealClimate, DeSmogBlog and many many others have been drinking the milkshake of these journalist FAIL Kings for at least two years now.

I say print newspapers today are nothing short of Living Dead Zombies - already rotting corpses who feed off the brains of the real journalists they fired a while ago and what's left of the gray matter from their now clueless paying subscribers. Since these legacy losers are well beyond reanimation, it's time they were buried for good.

And the Right Wing continue to harp on the "liberal bias" of the press.

I am not a fan of nuclear power but if a "cost containment" clause is included that also considers security, cooling as well as waste disposal, etc. it would be fine with me. The nation just does not have the resources at this time to throw billions more onto a rat hole. Efficency first and a level playing field on all the rest! ...
